'The True Cost' - Documentary about the Exploitation & Greed that goes into the making of our fav clothing #Cannes2015

A lot of consumers are ignorant about the back end of the Industry.  How some of these major retailers exploit the poor in third world countries to make millions of dollars.  I have worked in the back end of the industry and trust me I am very aware and also very careful about where I shop.  Too often we hear of collabo's between Designers and Artisans in 3rd world countries producing beautiful hand made goods.

We are told that 'a percentage' of the profits usually goes to charity but how much are these Artisans really getting?  Is it enough for them to feed their families for a while?  Think about it, a Designer makes a handbag with the help of craftsmen say in Kenya, East Africa and retails it in the US for $800.  If that Artisan was at least getting a fair amount of $400 or even $350 don't you think poverty in the world would be a lot manageable?  As consumers, try to be more aware about the Retailers you support. Yes we love fashion but at least care about who made your fav denims.  The below is a preview of the documentary 'The True Cost' recently released to bring awareness to this issue as well as the impact on the planet.  Also read this article 'THE TRUE COST' IS A JARRING LOOK AT THE HUMAN CASUALTIES OF FAST FASHION' on Fashionista.com
