Founded by Belgian Designer Martin Margiela in 1979 and also an alumni of the Antwerp six in the 80's, Fashion house Maison Martin Margiela created a name for showcasing eccentric and ground breaking designs while managing to keep a low profile throughout his career. He hated interviews and it is rumored that he remained backstage after his runway shows. His brand was acquired in 2002 and a host of famous Designers took over but the most buzz was created when John Galliano took over as Creative Director in 2014, former head Designer of legendary couture houses Givenchy and Dior.
This is John Galliano's first Ready-To-Wear collection for the brand and in true Galliano fashion it created a lot of buzz; very theatrical makeup, models hunched over, paper bag purses, fur wedges, cute Mary-Janes... in lieu of all the craziness he featured a great first RTW collection. Check out my fav's.
