Sporting brand Adidas is suing Marc Jacobs for trademark infringement. They are accused of copying the 3 stripes signature look by Adidas on sweaters produced for Marc by Marc Jacobs. Even though the Marc by Marc Jacobs sweaters only have 4 stripes down the arm, Adidas is claiming it looks very similar to their look and could be misleading consumers into thinking that they're actually looking at an Adidas apparel, which could tarnish the reputation it's built with it's customers.
My initial reaction was they are both two different brands one's sporting and the other lifestyle so as a customer I would not be misled into mixing up the brands. I took another look and I have to admit they do look very similar. Do you agree?
