It Gets Worse... Stanford Rapist's Father Writes Letter Claiming His Son's "20 Minutes of Action" Isn't Deserving of Jail Time
In response to all the backlash Ex-Stanford Swimmer Brock Turner has received for ONLY getting 6 months in jail for brutally raping a girl on campus (Click here for post), his father has released a letter claiming his Son's "20 Minutes of Action" Isn't Deserving of Jail Time that should be at least 14 years. He States 'Along with a few "memories" of his son that he hopes will "demonstrate the quality of his character. His son did not hurt the victim at all, but simply ended up in this situation due to intoxication and sexual promiscuity.'
Really? If he was THAT intoxicated why did he try to flee the scene? When you are extremely inebriated you black out which was in the victims case. You cannot distinguish between right or wrong. To Brock's Dad, STOP trying to justify this heinous act your son has committed. What if the victim was your daughter, would this be your response? We all need to learn from this and Justice needs to be served.

On Thursday, former Stanford swimmer Brock Turner was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman, and sentenced to six months of jail and probation because the judge believed a longer sentence would have a "severe impact" on him. Many have since criticized the verdict as far too lenient given Turner's crimes, and, following the sentencing, the victim of the assault chose to read an in-depth statement—directed at Turner himself—outlining the very severe impact that his actions had on her as a result. (I highly recommend you read the full version of her statement over at Buzzfeed.)
Now, Turner's father has released a counter-statement about his son's sentencing, claiming that he does not believe Turner should have to serve jail time at all, even though he faced a maximum sentence of 14 years. Along with a few "memories" of his son that he hopes will "demonstrate the quality of his character," Turner's father goes on to state his belief that his son did not hurt the victim at all, but simply ended up in this situation due to intoxication and sexual promiscuity.
"His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve," Turner's father wrote, referencing the fact that his son was believed to be on the path to become an Olympic swimmer. "That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life."
In case this needs to be said, sexual assault is not the same thing as "getting some action," and Turner was specifically convicted in the court of law for the former, not the latter. Yet his father goes on to insist that Turner has never caused anyone any harm, including the victim of his sexual assault.
"He has no prior criminal history and has never been violent to anyone including his actions on the night of Jan 17th 2015," he wrote. "Brock can do so many positive things as a contributor to society and is totally committed to educating other college students about the dangers of alcohol consumption and sexual promiscuity."
His father's statement aligns closely with Turner's own closing statements following his sentencing, both claiming that the assault was consensual and that the focus of the case should be on how much both parties had to drink, and how alcohol consumption was to blame for Turner's "promiscuity."
