Tokyo Fashion Week Spring
2026 runs from September 1st–6th, 2025, marking
the event’s 20th anniversary
since its official launch in 2005. Over two decades, it has
evolved into Asia’s leading fashion stage, known for blending avant-garde
experimentation with Japanese tradition. Its impact lies in spotlighting rising
designers such as Mukcyen and RyunosukeOkazaki, while
also giving global visibility to established names such as Ancellm and Tsumori Chisato.
Beyond the runway, the week shapes trends and reinforces Tokyo’s
role as a cultural bridge connecting East and West, innovation and heritage.
RyunosukeOkazaki, a Japanese designer from Hiroshima, is
known for turning fashion into sculptural art. A talented designer who decided to first study art before pursuing fashion, showcasing his 1st runway show in 2021. According to his interview with Numero, he stated: “I do not draw designs but create them as if they were sculptures. The act of creation itself is an act of prayer.” I like that he incorporates spirituality into his creative process.
For Spring–Summer 2026, he
unveiled his biggest collection yet, 29 looks that mix his signature
Jomon-inspired shapes with softer draping and for the first time, accessories
like sculptural boots and bags. Shown in a home setting, the presentation felt
both ceremonial and personal, especially meaningful during Hiroshima’s anniversary. This season also hints at his move toward ready-to-wear while keeping
his artistic spirit intact. Check out my favs below!
