Hope you had a great holiday season! I am bacckk, right in time
for Paris Haute Couture 2026, one of the most exclusive fashion events in the
world where iconic designers push the envelope and showcase custom,
one-of-a-kind creations with incredible detail and craftsmanship. This season,
held from January 26–29, 2026 in Paris, features 29 couture houses presenting
their most exclusive designs. P.S. Haute couture is heavily regulated
by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et dela Mode, which sets strict criteria a fashion house must meet to
qualify. These rules include:
- Producing made-to-measure garments for private clients
- Maintaining a Paris-based atelier with skilled artisans
- Presenting collections during the official couture calendar
Only houses that meet these standards can be
officially recognized as haute couture and invited to show on the Paris runway, so this is a big deal in the industry.
This ensures that haute couture remains exclusive,
elite, and the pinnacle of craftsmanship and creativity, aka the crème de la crème of fashion.
I must say, there seems to be a shift in the fashion
industry, so far, the Spring 2026 haute couture collections are giving ready-to-wear vibes
and feel a bit underwhelming. What happened to the good old days of jaw-dropping haute couture?
Schiaparelli's Spring 2026 haute couture collection has saved the season so far, with a collection dubbed 'The Agony and the Ecstasy,’ embodies dreamlike
elegance, playful illusions, with intricate couture-level detail. One of the
standout elements was the feather-like glam, with feathers used in unexpected
and creative ways adding texture, movement, and that signature Schiaparelli
drama that makes couture feel like art. The iconic fashion house has been around for 'eons', founded by Italian designer Elsa Schiaparelli in 1927, and became famous for bold artistic statement pieces that blur the line between fashion
and art. Today, under creative director Daniel Roseberry, the brand continues to dominate couture week with iconic corsetry, exaggerated silhouettes, and dramatic jewelry accents, keeping Schiaparelli's legacy very much alive. 30 looks, these are my fav's.
