Whether you're a die-hard Birkin lover or simply appreciate
exceptional craftsmanship, there's no denying the influence Hermès has had on
luxury fashion. For decades, the iconic brand has been the blueprint for 'quiet
luxury', long before it became a social media sensation with numerous 'unboxing' videos. With the growing
popularity of the Birkin and Kelly handbags, coupled with an influx of resellers
since the pandemic, one can't help but wonder whether some of that exclusivity
may eventually fade.
For Resort 2027, Creative Director Nadège Vanhée presented "The Second Chapter" collection in Los Angeles, a
continuation to the past Fall 2026 Ready-to-Wear debuted in Paris early this year. According to a recent interview with W magazine,
she describes the collection as an exploration of "the quiet tension
between discipline and ease." Since her appointment in 2014, Vanhée has
shaped Hermès womenswear into a more modern, contemporary vision without losing
the house's luxurious appeal and timeless elegance. Her impressive résumé includes The Row, Céline, and Maison Martin Margiela amongst others.
While the collection remained grounded in Hermès' iconic equestrian heritage, there was a softer, more contemporary energy. The overall mood felt lighter and perhaps more appealing to a younger generation of luxury consumers. I particularly appreciated the subtle Western influences woven throughout the collection. Rustic color palettes, artisanal embroidery inspired by Indigenous American craftsmanship, and rich leather details added depth and character without overwhelming the brand's signature sophistication. Then came the studded leather jackets, an unexpected but welcome twist that introduced a touch of edge to a house better known for refined restraint.
For the accessories, Hermès continues to understand the power of
desire. Several new handbag silhouettes are almost certain to find their way
onto luxury wish lists and likely lengthy waitlists. I can't wait to hear about all the antics people pull just to get
"offered" a bag, lol, by the infamous’SA’s’ (sales associate) at the brands flagship stores😆. 54 looks these are my fav's.
