A bit late with this review, catching up, currently buffering... 😉.
With all the recent buzz surrounding Creative Director, Matthieu Blazy's Spring/Summer 2026 RTW collection currently in Chanel flagship boutiques worldwide,
I was curious to see what he would bring to his debut Cruise/Resort collection.
I'll admit, I was a bit skeptical. At this point, I may just be a Karl
Lagerfeld loyalist, lol 😆
(may he RIP), and need to give Blazy a fair chance.
What did I think of the Resort/Cruise 2027 collection? loved it! Blazy seems to be finding his rhythm at Chanel, and it's starting to show, finally... For his first Resort show, he chose to pay homage to a historic seaside town in southwestern France’s Basque coast, Biarritz, France, popular vacation spot since the 19th century for European royals. This town is iconic in the Brands history because this is where founder Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel opened her first couture house in 1915 and more than a century later, Blazy returns to pay homage to the place where the Chanel story began. How iconic!
Blazy did his thing! This collection had a nautical feel with subtle seaside references woven
throughout. The looks were giving! Chanel's traditionally polished tweed skirt
suits were softened with relaxed, slouchier silhouettes and boxier skirts with a sexy edge (the high slits),
bringing a more contemporary attitude without sacrificing the sophistication
the house is known for. Bold silk prints, subtle touches of the Chanel logo, standout gowns, and
effortless separates created the ultimate vacation wardrobe. It felt like Blazy
was dressing the modern Chanel woman for an idyllic seaside getaway, whether she was
heading to brunch, a fishing excursion, a tennis match, dinner by the beach, or
an elegant evening affair.
And of course, the Accessories, just as compelling. The shoes were chic... well besides the controversial 'Barefoot sandal' 😉, the styling details were on point. New handbag silhouettes were featured, the classic quilted flap bag was refreshed in new textures and colors, and oversized totes paired beautifully with the collection. A standout was the massive bow clutch bag that matched the gowns. The jewelry leaned into the seaside inspiration, with oversized coral and
seashell earrings making a statement on the runway. Even the updated sunglasses
felt fresh and fun, tying the whole collection together without overpowering
it. Excited to see upcoming seasons, 79 looks, these are my fav's.
